For DTC students who want to learn Programing

Hey everyone,

I thought I might share this free site for people who want to explore new boundaries of digital technology. This site is new and it is run by donations from people who want to fund for the future generations of programmers.

Programing is the future of the technical language and I believe that this skill is essential if you want to do more with digital technology.I think people should give this site a try, you don't have to be an expert. This site has lessons for a wide variety of programming skills and of any level.

I personally believe that programming is a good skill to learn as it will open up more pathways in design, technology, and innovation.

Multimedia Inspiration

The Most Astounding Fact from Max Schlickenmeyer on Vimeo.

Here I decided to post one of my favorite types of inspirational videos. Personally, I believe multimedia is most successful when it allows you to use your mind. What I mean by that is that I really enjoy videos that make people think about themselves, life, etc. For my video project I wanted to create a video like this but I feel as if it was not as successful as Neil Degrasse Tyson.

Game Developers In Prison

I thought this article was rather interesting. Apparently two employees were arrested in Greece for their development in ArmA3. The Greek police ended up stating that they were being arrested for their involvement in Espionage. In addition, the two individuals were visiting their for awhile. I believe they were visiting so that they can get the proper detail for the island for their game. Greek police say otherwise, they are sentenced for 20 years in prison. The new news now is that they are being accused of taking photos of Greek military installations. Which the two deny, either way, I believe they did nothing bad and were probably trying to improve their game.

A new way of capturing cells

This sort of news really makes me happy when I see research becoming revolutionary. Anyways, researchers in the Netherlands are undergoing the development of micro pyramids to capture living cells. The great thing about these cells in the pyramids is that it will allow us to see these cells in 3D, as well as enable our ability to study the microscopic world. Overall, I am really excited to see where this research takes us and also makes me wonder about all the possibilities that will come from viewing a three dimensional cell.

Game Play as an Art

Evan Roth, an artist, had recently put up an installation that captures the movements throughout Angry Birds. Now I am not really a fan of the series but I thought it was interesting to see an artist take advantage of an interactive game and create something. I also think it is interesting because you get a sense of the repetitiveness of these types of games by visually viewing the motions. It is something different in the fields of art and technology.

United Kingdom as an Anime

I thought this take on art was very interesting. What happened here is an artist designed the UK to appear as a person. It surprises me that they were successful in this. I thought about posting this because it shows a mix of multimedia art from geography and art put together to create something interesting. Note: I was unable to find the artist name who designed this, but I have a link below to see how he created this piece.

No Orbiting

Astronomers have recently found a planet that is roaming but not orbiting any star. They call this planet CFBDSIR J214947.2-040308.9. The great thing is that this planet is the first lone planet that has been found. I am really excited to hear about such planet because I am wondering what may be found on their. This related to science so I decided to post about this topic.

DIY Camera

A man by the name of Dominique Vanken wanted a camera from 1907. These cameras are known as "Autochrome Lumiere", which used potato starch to create a color filter. Now back to modern days, Vanken decided he did not want to buy one (They are Pricey), so he decided to create one on his own...out of LEGO's. When Vanken completed this project he had a fully function LEGO camera that was put together by cardboard, duct tape, and of course, LEGO's. I thought this was really interesting way of using innovative technology to recreate a valuable piece of technology. I personally want to know how he put everything together and maybe get a functional camera as well.

Latte Artist

Personally, I am not a person who likes coffee, although Kazuki Yamamoto sure does. Yamamoto makes his art out on a small latte cup. I do not know how exactly he manages to add plenty of detail and so fourth but with precision. Nonetheless, it still looks great! I really enjoyed how he makes icons in his art, but I believe it must be really hard since you have to make sure not to ruin the design. I thought it was interesting seeing how artist use different mediums to attract their audience. Overall, I think this artist is successful in presenting his work.

Human Whiskers

The Weizmann Institute in Israel has been found to be researching the humans secret sensor. The reason is because researchers realized that other mammals have the ability to use their whiskers to tell what is around their surroundings. So with that, they want to bring this concept to life for humans by blindfolding them and putting bionic whiskers that are attached to the finger. Nonetheless, this was a successful experiment and participants were able to increase their ability with the whiskers as trials went by.

Nanolaser

Northwestern University have just accomplished the creation of the smallest laser. this laser is about the size of a virus. This is a HUGE benefit for researchers as this will open the door to improved research in microbiology. In addition, researchers will also be able to improve optical devices with this small laser. I am really excited about this accomplishment and I hope to find out what happens next with the laser. The name of this device is, "Plasmonic Bowtie Nanolaser Array, great name for a new discovery in science and technology.

Tales from Dunwall

Here is a chapter series on "Dishonored: Tales from Dunwall". The reason why I decided to share this is because I feel these videos have great animation and storytelling. I also enjoyed that the videos were deep and interesting. "Dishnored" is a videogame but the amazing concept of these videos is that it creates a story for characters not even in the game. It makes me think how everybody is living their lives, good or bad. I thought these videos are a great example of cinematography.

Water Installation

I really thought this video was interesting. This is an installation by Grzegorz, what he did was use water to create a 3D effect of a hologram. I thought it was really brilliant. In addition, he also used video editing to create the animations for the hologram. The animation is based on the beginning, to modern man.

The Alphabet of Gaming

I thought this video on gaming was fantastic. This video focuses on game titles and runs down the list from A-Z. What I also enjoyed was the music and the nostalgia of gaming scenes. I thought this was an interesting video, in relations to multimedia, because it correlates with video design. Video can range from fiction and non fiction, and people can just make a video out of digital design as well.

Pumpktris

Since today is Halloween, I decided to post something related to the season. I then found Pumpktris. Pumpktris is a pumpkin that is infused with the awesome tetris mechanics. All with the use of heat-shrink tubing, solder, 128 LEDs, eight AA batteries, an Arduino board and clever programming to bring this creation to life. The game is then controlled by the top of the pumpkin. I thought this was a great concept when talking about art, science, and technology because it uses all of the above to create an outstanding piece of work. Have a great Halloween!

Scratch This Portrait

SCRATCH HERE BEFORE READING

What you have scratched is a portrait by Picasso. Picasso, " Women Ironing", was said to contain a hidden portrait of Picasso's earlier artwork. This was found in 1989, with the help of inferred. Recently, this portrait was restored and now it is at the museum in new york. I decided to post about this portrait because I thought this find was amazing, to bring to life a forgotten image. It makes me wonder what other secrets lay within other footage, artwork, and gaming software. You might had already read the description of this portrait when you clicked the link, but I thought it is much better to interact with the image instead.

Ross Ching

I have recently found out about this video artist who's name is Ross Ching. He produces videos and I personally thought his videos were really neat. In relations to Multimedia Authoring, I thought it closely relates to video production. Anyways, take a look at some of my favorite videos from Ross Ching.

The Starry Night..On a Vehicle.

Here is an image of "The Starry Night" on a car. I think it is a nice concept to have for a car. This image mixes both technology and art together to create something that you can use and show to people on the road. I just thought the car looked great with the image of the "The Starry Night". I thought the painting looks about right and it really blends well with the look of the car. I think this is definently art, even though its from Van Gogh, this person is showing the world Van Gogh's art.

A College Course: Study Skyrim

Rice University, In Huston Texas is apparently holding a course called, "Scandinavian Fantasy Worlds: Old Norse Sagas and Skyrim". This is a junior level course which focuses on comparing the mythologies of old Scandinavian to modern fantasy, basically, why people today correlate to Scandinavian mythology in popular culture. Personally, having a class like this would be great to have at WSU. I think the concept is interesting because it is exploring a new form of study that is found in gaming.

Fuel Created From Air and Water

Scientist have recently discovered how to turn air and water into methanol that is converted into petrol. So far, in three month, they have accumulated 5 liters of synthetic petrol. In addition, this is clean energy and also the process has been successful so it is possible to use. The reason why their has only been 5liters produced is because this funding was done by a short fund and a small group of scientist. All that is needed now is a larger refinery that can help produce more synthetic petrol.

Classic Toys

Scot's Hensey is an artist who has been in charge of sculpting classic toys from the 80's and 90's. I ran into this video that documents his experience of toy sculpting, which is quite an interesting video. I was surprised by the fact that Hensey has always enjoyed sculpting since he was a child. Hensey prefers to sculpt with chopsticks and I thought it was interesting when Hensey mentions his experience sculpting for digital artist. He , at first, thought they would be really picky but in reality they were happy to see their 3D animation come to life.

The DMCA at Work

A web hosting firm known as "FirmBreach" has been receiving notices from the DMCA ( or the "Digital Millennium Copyright Act" from Pearson. Pearson is a publishing company who has published a handful of educational material. The culprit who got this notices was from one of "FirmBreachs" users, "Edublog", whom posted educational information for the public. "Edublog" has posted about 1.45 million blogs related to education. Now, Pearson and the DMCA has closed down the 1.45 million blogs from "Firmbreach" database of "Edublog".

The reason for this closure was because Pearson claims that "Edublog" has infringed content. The funny thing is that the closure was done because of one item, Farmer explained,"that the infringing material from 2007 was a reprint of "Beck's Hopelessness Scale," a 20-item self-evaluation questionnaire published in 1974 which Pearson sells for $120". "Edublog" did remove this after the warning but "Firmbreach" noticed it was still on file, so following Pearson and the DMCA orders, they took down all of "Edublogs" posts.

Personally, I think that this was something unfair because of one single content that was posted. I believe that just because Pearson is a larger company and Edublog is a smaller one, that they should have not have removed all of Edublogs posts. I believe that Edublog was just trying to help people get material that they needed when they couldn't find it elsewhere. I am very surprised that all of the 1.45 million blogs got taken down so fast.

Multimedia Authoring Is the Future?

Newsweek as confirmed that they will be moving away from print and making all their magazines digital. December 31st will be the last time that a print version of Newsweek will be in existence. The future of digital publication appears to be slowly creeping in our way. With the reliance of digital publication, I believe multimedia authoring is going to play an important role in designing digital media. Furthermore, designing apps, layouts, and arranging information in a digital space will most likely take place of print. Therefore, Multimedia Authoring will be an important skill for the future generations. At the same time, I think it is an important step in future publication, but I also worry about loosing print for our future generation. I worry because sometimes it is good to have an actual print copy of information but I suppose it will help with saving costs and reducing deforestation.

DinoPokemon

I have recently stumbled upon a interesting illustration of Pokemon. This artist is known as "RJ Palmer" and he is a huge dinosaur fan. All his art is based on dinosaurs and he just recently started to create dinosaur Pokemon.

True Portal Gun

Recently, a hacked version of a prototyped portal gun was completed. This technology was designed to levitate a "Companion Cube" by the use of magnets. I personally think this hack is quite amusing. In relations to multimedia authoring, this technology expresses how much of an advantage multimedia has on creativity. Having the proper technology and prototypes to make something great is most likely completed as a result of communication through other creative minds. Having a knowledge in design and programming helps further plan the "Hack" for these technologies.

The power of the web

Art in the digital world is something that has been falling into its place. The web is a place that has helped new artist adapt to a new era of digital art. This is done by allowing the artist think of ideas or simply show the world what they are capable of. I read this through and article that was titled,"Technology and Art: Engineering the Future", and I believe that art is still art no matter if people are revolutionizing the same technique or idea. The reason why I decided to talk about this is because I really enjoy the use of new technology to create multimedia.

The Hylian Lego'

I have decided to post today a Lego sculpture by a team known as "Bolt of blue". I personally think that this is some amazing sculpture work and appears to be really well colored. Lego art is something that I think always looks strong because of those edges and dark colors. I have seen plenty of other Lego artist but this is one of my favorite examples of the possibilities that exist with Lego art.

The Yellowism movement?

Recently a person known as Valdimir Umanets was arrested in his art movement that he has been trying to create. This movement is known as Yellowism, the act of defacing art to express yellowism. Valdimir Umanets had most recently defaced Mark Rothko's "Seagram" series. He was arrested eventually for this act but claims that he did not destroy the value of the piece. He states that, "I didn't decrease the value, I didn't destroy this picture, I put something new." which made me wonder if what he is actually doing is right?

Personally, this postmodern act bothers me because it seems as it is destroying something that held a value to the artist. Mark Rothko has passed away in 1970, which makes me feel like Valdimir did something disrespectful. It would be interesting to know what everybody thinks of this act.

What's in a Game?

One of the biggest questions that people have with gaming is the factors within a game. I recently stumbled upon a project that is documenting a series known as "What's in a game" it helps us understand the making, design, and the technology of gaming. This documentary does not focus on just chronological order, but the technical aspects. In addition, this documentary looks for answers on "how design, technology, culture, and commerce cross pollinate to create the most peculiar medium in popular culture."

Content Overview:

00. Press Start: How a video series and social media can change games.

01. Points: Why do we play? What good can come of videogames?

02. Coin: How a single quarter became larger than all of Hollywood.

03. 2:P Does play strengthen relationships? Videogames as social activity.

04. Button: We talk to machines through controls, but how do they respond?

05. Pixel: As we approach photorealism, will we revolt against the Uncanny?

06. EXP: Can games help us grow? What can we learn from them?

07. Boss: Everyone loves a villain. Duality and competition in videogames.

08. Princess: Women in games. What a little diversity could bring to gaming.

09. Cake: Gaming narratives and the precocious rituals of the gamer.

10. World: Videogame's most unique asset. The power of mythmaking.

11. Continue?: What challenges face us today? What will tomorrow bring?

Minecraft Art

After having read the section in gaming and technology as a form of digital art I wanted to talk about my thoughts of art in gaming. I believe that it is an important medium to consider in digital art because it gives the viewer a sense of being in a new world. I quickly thought of a recent and popular game called Minecraft. The purpose of this game is to create, in fact, users can go online and play with a community to build a city or a landscape. Most people think that it may hold no purpose but in actuality it appears more like a medium in art that allows a user to create something magnificent for others to view. The video that I have posted blow shows a project that a user had done, which shows how creative you can be with the game. The game is made up of blocks but the purpose of being able to build up is quite amazing. There are probably millions of other great composites that other users have done and I just decided to post this video because it captures a natural life cycle in the game. I thought it was rather creative and captivating for a game that builds on blocks.

The Study of Roots

Recently, scientist have created transparent soil to research plant growth of the roots. The study of rhizospheres is an important study because it means we will be able to understand the growth of roots and the factors that influence the change in growth of those roots. The soil, on the other hand, is composed of Nafion, which is the same synthetic composite that is used for generating power-generating fuel-cells. The soil requires the mixture of a special water based solution to actually turn transparent. The reason why I am posting about this interesting find is because it is related to the sciences. Personally, I also believed it appears aesthetically captivating yet very revolutionary in the fields of science.

Vector Images and The Letters

Here is my completed images of vector design on adobe illustrator. The letters that I chose to edit were the letter XII, the roman numeral letters. Roman numerals are probably my most favorite type of "word/number" to create. I then did plenty of adjustment to create my abstract piece. In the end, I finished of my piece by making it both a jpeg and a png because it was part of my compilations title. The title of my pieces is, "Transcendentalism". The reason I gave them that title is because I wanted to show a passage of abstract time change. I began with a white background and make my image dissolve into no background to show a change of time. Basically, my piece is transcending into change. The 3 images that I have within my final pieces show an abstract species that is changing from left to right. If you look from top to bottom, change in background occur. If you look from left to right, the change occurs in their form. Also, I only decided to change the background in each file because I wanted to keep the changed images from left to right the same to correspond to the project. If I decided to not have it in one plane I was going to have each "letter" creature changing backgrounds from top to bottom.
Another piece that I created was called nightmare. This piece was originally my first image that I worked with. The reason why I stopped at where it did is because I accidentally created this image. When the image below got to where it was, I continued modifying it until I lost the image that I have below. This was disappointing because I realized I should have kept it how it looked but I saved it when I altered it too much. Anyways, the image below represents an abstract nightmare with a insane staircase in the center that directs to the crazy world of nightmares. To the side, you can see two creatures that haunt the nightmares.

Strandbeest

When art, science and technology go together you create something outstanding. This leads me to my discussion of Theo Jansen's, Strandbeest. The Strandbeest is a "creature" created by PVC pipes and Jansen's knowledge of physics and art. The purpose for creating the Strandbeest is to create a new life forms that he one day hopes to release into the beach. The Strandbeest also uses bottles to help provide more motion in the movement. I believe Theo Jansen's, "Strandbeest", is an amazing animal and I recommend to check out his site and the video below.

Laser Gun... Out of the NES light gun

Technology is something that is created until it is innovative. Yet when hackers work with a piece of technology , they can go beyond what we ever thought was possible. The NES laser gun is something that proved that innovative technology is possible with older technology. The reason I say that is because a group of hackers just made the classic TV point in shoot toy gun into a real laser gun. I recommend you see the strength of this laser gun.

Ipad Brains

One of the interesting factors of technology is the app system. App programs are interesting because they are creative methods in innovative technology. Although Apps can be useful, their are times when apps go beyond useful to the world of strange. The reason why I believe it is strange is that recently an app for the Ipad was released that allows the user to poke around Einsteins Brain. This can be helpful for a neurologist but I do not understand why would anyone want to poke around in their. Anyways, I think it is a cool concept but I am not sure it requires an app to see the brain of Einstein.

Geo A Day

Geo A Day is a site that I have recently come across that designs digital shapes and places them in an environment. What I really liked about these designs is that it creates geometry in a new spectrum. I believe geometry looks more appealing as an art form compared to just lines. In relations to multimedia authoring, this is an example of how much inspiration that is out their that is possible. I recommended to give this site a view.

Art of Videogame

The Smithsonian is currently holding the "Art of Videogames" which will run through March 2012 until September 30,2012. Afterwards, this exhibit will travel throughout the United States.

The reason I am posting about this event is because I believe it really has a great correlation to Art,Science, And Technology. Being able to view how far interactive art and media has come over the years is something valuable for the world of Digital Technology. Below I have posted a link on the generations timeline of video game art.

START!

I personally thought the site was a nice walk-though of the history of gaming and why it is an art form.

The Art of Video Games will travel to 10 cities in the United States following its presentation in Washington, D.C.

Boca Raton Museum of Art in Boca Raton, Florida (October 24, 2012–January 20, 2013)

The Science of Creating a Unique Sculpture

When I think about art I reflect on art that stands out and makes an ordinary scenery come alive. It also interest me when an art form is produced using scientific and mathematical measures because it shows that the artist goes beyond the normal balance of traditional art. Which had me thinking of a sculpture that I have known about just last spring that I have been wanting to see. This sculpture is by Rafael Barrios, an artist who makes three dimensional sculptures and installs them in a public location.

Locomotive Mapping

Using a GPS system to map and create multimedia is actually a good method to creating a physical view of a location and also create something unique. I was really impressed by Jeremy woods use of GPS data to create the "Flight Map" Furthermore, I feel as if he is creating something that will be visible for others to view and realize how much travel is done. Interactive and locative art is a unique way to capture the world and I feel it also has the benefits to fixing problems. Below is another locomotive map completed by Jeremy Wood, Called "My Ghost".

Copyright in Multimedia

Media has plenty of advantages but also come with their own disadvantages. One of those disadvantages is when multimedia is copyright and published as a knock off or for personal gain. I recently read an article about a game developer who creates an iOS game on the apple store that is a complete copy of "Super Mario 3D land" but with their own Mario style. This game is called "3D Cartoon Land Safari" and it has a handful of users outraged about this production. Personally, I do not really like that the fact that developers are creating games that are exactly the same but then I think it helps people better their skills and allows more innovation for the gaming industry.

8-Bit Multimedia

I have always had in interest as 8-bit and 16-bit art because of the simplicity that comes from simple graphics. Something that I wanted to share is an artist known as Kelly Goeller who mixes live settings and modifies the setting but implementing a digital aspect within the setting. Manipulating an environment to make a almost surreal experience with the digital medium is a great concept. I was not really able to find out anymore of her other works but the following photo is from her latest, "Pixel Pour". I really thought it was a great way to make the environment in a new dimension and I would really like to see more artist create more 8Bit or 16Bit art within an environment.

Kinetic Technology as an Art Form

Kinetic sculptures are one of my most favorite types of art forms because of how effective motion works to create the artwork. When I thought about kinetic sculptures I thought if it was possible to create a kinetic sculpture by using both technology and art. To my surprise, I found a video that shows the fusion of both art, science and technology. According to the description, this Kinetic sculpture is actually a logo that is located at the Deutsche Bank headquarter in Frankfurt. This kinetic logo uses about 48 triangles that are split from the original logo to form this aesthetic and choreographed motion. Overall, I thought this video shows how effective art, science and technology works well together.

Digital Technology as a Medium

The chapter, "Digital Technology as a medium" happens to be something that I enjoy about digital technology. For example, Jefferey Shaw, I believe, utilizes green screen to produce a magnificent piece of art work. The example appears to be outdated since it appears that the graphics is kind of low budget. Nonetheless, I think people who try to form art using this medium are individuals who help revolutionize the way we view and utilize these technologies. In my opinion, I believe that digital technology installations are such a magnificent piece of work because the viewer can interact and view digital technology as a medium. On the other hand, the artist has the ability to become creative and sophisticated in using digital technology to create, develop and process an important piece of technology. Something that I have wondered throughout chapter two is how would an individual fund such large amount of technology? and how do they learn the skill to actually create the installation?

Interactive Media

After reading,"Digital Space", nothing stood out more then interactivity. Interactivity as a type of art form is something that I really believe is a great way to bring in the viewer. The game-like interactivity that took place for Luc Courchesne, "Portrait One" reminded me of the game like interaction that occurs in role playing games. There is a game known as "Heavy Rain" or "Beyond Two Souls" where the main purpose is to interact with the environment and choose the players fate. It is digital media like this that I really believe brings in the viewer into an art piece. One question that came up during the reading is the fact that not everybody likes game interactions. Their are plenty of individuals who rather look but do not have any interest of interacting with an interactive piece. I sometimes wonder why exactly is it that people do not like digital interactions?. Nonetheless I view them as an important medium of art.

Modern and Post-Modern Art

The topic of modern and post-modern art is a rather interesting subject. I feel as I am more in between both modern and post-modern art as a favorite. I love the story telling of modern art but in addition I also love the abstract and thought provoking view of post-modern art. Something that I always felts is that anything and everything has an important value. In post-modern, Symbolism and metaphors are something that I enjoy viewing art. The story telling and ideas that modern art has on the viewer is also effective because it allows a preservation of memory. People, no matter who they are both have their own perspective on life yet I enjoy the openness of being immersed into any style of art.
This photo is of a post-modern artist known as Claes Oldenburg. The reason why I am posting this image is because I personally believe art that stands out really brings in people. Oldenburg is known for his large sculptures(usually representing an item) being displayed in random locations. What I also enjoy about this sculpture because of how the color just stands out in "Cupids Span". The size and color both blend well and how it is in the ground makes it feel as it is part of San Fransico.
"Indigo Lights" is a more modernist artwork by Brian Giberson. The reason why I enjoy this painting is because of how refreshing the colors blend in with each-other. In addition, the painting also does a great job making the city come to life by making some great ratio levels from building to building. Finally, the center of the painting has a moon that really stood out to me because it really draws the viewer in and feel calm.

Film Multimedia

When I look at film I think about the concept, design, and storytelling that a film has. Some of my most favorite films are independent films, horror films, sci-fi films, etc. Film is an important medium to consider in multimedia authoring because it allows the creator to either express emotions, message, or talent. Nonetheless, when I see independent films I feel that the most important focus is the message and the storytelling. Below I have provided an example of a small independent film that is a reference to reality and gaming. The way the director was able to edit the video how it is makes it a haunting yet mysterious film. If anybody knows of half-life, it is a game that tells a story of a world where a scientific experiment has gone wrong and spread into the environment.

Environmental Art

Environmental art installations art is medium that I would enjoy to see more of around the world. In addition, the video I provided is about an installation of "Super Mario Bros." in a regular environment. Art ,technology, and science most likely played an important role in this installation because you have to find a great location in the environment, figure out the right dimensions, know the science of coding, and have some knowledge with the technology.  Furthermore, I feel like the video below shows how interactive and fun an environmental installation can have in an environment. Even if art can be fun their are sometimes environmental art that is disliked by the public. I might post something about the most hated environmental art in a later post. According to the creator, he wanted to create the NES in an environment that is not bounded by the environment

Self Portrait Project

After working endlessly on my pieces I have gathered together two self-portraits that I believe reflect a metaphor of who I am. The first photo that I completed I have titled, “Blu”, because of the blue effect that I was trying to achieve. Metaphorically, this photo represents me as an individual who likes enjoys surrealism, mystery, and futurism. When I was working with Photoshop my main goal was to get my portrait to appear as if it was in the deep ocean. Eventually, I was able to work out my portrait to appear like a water pastel. Some of the techniques that I worked with were the brush, clone stamp, wind effect, and the set of filters. I was then able to capture a portrait that made me look like a mystery, reflected by the water. I was also aiming to make myself appear like I was in a dream world because of the edges of wind that are extending out of my portrait. Something that I found very helpful is understanding how to merge layers and blend colors so that it does not appear as if it were a copy and paste portrait.
My next piece focuses on my interest, being gaming. What I planned was to allow my portrait to express the symbolism of why I enjoy certain video games. When I worked with this portrait I focused on understanding how to compile a set of symbols and merge them with my portrait. Another technique I learned was how to develop my background so that it may appear as a single image. Finally, I ended up using the wind effect here because of the colors that I was trying to evoke with the symbols and the building. I titled this piece, " Dark Wind" due to the fact that the wind appears to be blowing in the city of my symbolism.
